Who would win in a battle between the Eden BodyWorks Curl Defining Creme Vs. the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie? Well, I can say one thing for sure, this is not an easy comparison, but don't worry! I am going to compare these products based on some important factors that we normally look for when deciding what products to add to our product stashes.
These products will be compared based on appearance, price, smell, consistency, and performance. Who will win? Let's start by getting to know a little background of each of these products before diving into these factors from above and crowning the winner of each category.
Disclaimer: These are my personal opinions based on my personal experiences with both products.
The Curl Enhancing Smoothie from Shea Moisture was really a staple within the natural hair community years ago when the natural hair community began to rise in popularity. Most of us leaned towards this product when we first began our natural hair journeys, but it seems to have lost traction over the years within then natural hair community. Do we just have too many options now a days?
The Natural Curl Defining Creme from Eden BodyWorks has also been a staple within the community, but it didn't see heavy use of this product until more recently. I am not sure why I didn't hear about this product before, but there are many naturalistas that are willing to stand by this product as one of their natural hair product staples that they wouldn't want to live without. Could it be due to the fact that it has anti-humidity ingredients?
So, with two AMAZING products within the community, you can see why this would be a difficult decision right? **Takes a deep breath** Let's start with overall appearance, shall we?
Personally, I feel that the Curl Enhancing Smoothie by Shea Moisture wins due to the bright orange color scheme that was used for the design of the container. In my opinion, bright colors attract more to the eye and make you feel more uplifted in energy. However, I am also a fan of the visual schemes of both of these products. They are nice and easy to read which is VERY important when shopping for products, especially when you purchasing in store. [Winner: Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie]
Although the prices of these two products vary based on where you purchase them, I can say that both of these products seem to be around the same ball park with their prices. For example, I found the Eden BodyWorks Natural Curl Defining Creme for $8.99 on SallyBeauty.com, while the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie was spotted at the price of $11.97 at Walmart.com. It really depends on the store of which you purchase these products. However, one important thing to note is that you get a four more ounces with the Eden BodyWorks Curl Defining Creme. So, I think it is safe to say that Eden BodyWorks won in terms of price. [Winner: Eden BodyWorks Natural Curl Defining Creme]
Although I am a fan of both scents, I am going to deem Shea Moisture's Curl Enhancing Smoothie the winner in this category due to the more favorable tropical scent. I believe it is the hibiscus for me! In comparison, the Eden BodyWorks product does smell good, but the scent is far more faint and it isn't anything that I would want to smell over and over again. You know how you have that candle scent that you just can't stop smelling? That's what I am looking for in terms of scent with my hair products. It is important to note that the desired smell will depend solely on personal preference. [Winner: Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Creme]
Both of these products have thick and creamy consistencies and I absolutely LOVE that for my type 4 natural hair. The Eden Body Works Natural Curl Defining Creme is a little bit thicker than the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, but based on my experiences using both products, I feel that the curl enhancing smoothie has a consistency that mixes better with other products (especially leave-ins). You know what that means? [Winner: Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie]
Both of these products will not disappoint in terms of performance. Why? They both held to the standards of which they claimed in their advertising on their packaging and product descriptions. With both products, you will notice a reduction in frizz, a medium hold, and insane amounts of added moisture so what's the difference? The only difference I could find that would make the Curl Defining Creme from Eden BodyWorks more desirable in more humid environments is the fact that this product claims to be have an anti-humidity formula. Not only did they make this claim, but I have found it to be true. I definitely don't have to worry about my hair getting frizzy as soon as I step outside. [Winner: Eden BodyWorks Natural Curl Defining Creme]
It looks like the Curl Enhancing Smoothie wins this battle of the stylers by having a better product consistency that pairs well with other products, a more desirable smell that makes you feel like you are on vacation even in quarantine, and their more bright and aesthetically pleasing appearance/packaging.
Do you agree with my final conclusion? If not, make your claims in the comment section down below! The only thing I ask is that you have tried both of these products within the last year or so. I would love to continue this conversation with my curlfriends!
